Introduction to Enterprise/Organisation
Safety Assessment Tool
This tool has been developed to assess how progressive, resilient, or at risk an enterprise or organisation is within its industry, based on the strength of its Skills (core capabilities) and the breadth and depth of its Network (strategic partnerships, industry connections, stakeholders). The tool follows an input–output model: organisational leaders or their representatives provide input, and the tool generates a safety/risk profile with strategic insights and recommendations.
What determines an enterprise’s resilience to disruption or market shifts and its readiness to seize new opportunities?
In times of market disruption, technological change, or shifts in competitive landscapes, an organisation’s ability to sustain and grow depends on three key factors:
- Core Capabilities: the depth, relevance, and agility of its collective skills and competencies across key functions
- Network of Influence: the strength of the organisation’s relationships and collaborations with external partners, industry bodies, customers, regulators, and other stakeholders
- External Factors: these can include market forces, regulatory changes, and even sheer luck, among others. While largely uncontrollable, their impact can be mitigated by the strength of the organisation’s capabilities and alliances.
In essence, to stay competitive, organisations must focus on what they can control: building strategic skills and forming strong external partnerships.
Why this assessment matters
Organisations that ignore capability development or fail to nurture strategic partnerships are at risk of:
- Losing market relevance and competitive advantage
- Being sidelined in industry ecosystems
- Vulnerability to technological disruption, regulatory change, or new entrants.
